10th National Schools Bowling Championship
Kevin Koh, Valerie Teo captures Masters titles

31st May, Singapore: Two Gold medalist, Valerie Teo of Raffles' Junior College ended a superb outing in the 10th National Schools Bowling Championship at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Yishun by capturing the Girl's Masters title while Kevin Koh Boon Ann took the Boy's event. Valerie Teo defeated Low Xin Lian in the thrilling stepladder finals 247-232 and Kevin Koh had an easier final ousting top-seed Eugene Kwok 200-167.

In the first of the Girl's stepladder finals, 3rd-seed Valerie Lee lost to 2nd-seed Low Xin Lian 182-212 and had to settle for the Bronze medal. But the two Gold medalist, Valerie Teo proved too good for Low when she displayed her cool to claim the Gold medal while Low took the Silver.

Valerie Teo of Raffles' College had earlier finished top of the Girl's Masters finals with 1627 pinfalls followed by Low from Hwa Chong Junior College on 1521 with Valerie Lee of Raffles' Junior College in third with 1497.

Jamie Teo Sze Min missed the cut for the stepladder and a medal after finishing fourth just 16 pins behind third place, Valerie Lee.

Meanwhile the Boy's Singles Gold medalist, Kevin Koh had an easy job when he faced top-seed Eugene Kwok in the final stepladder match winning 200-167. Kevin from Anglo-Chinese Junior College, who made the stepladder finals in third, outsed 2nd-seed Andrew Tan of Hwa Chong Junior College 223-174 before taking on the top-seed Eugene.

Eugene ofSt. Andrews' Junior College who scored 1585 in the Masters finals earlier, settled for the Silver while Andrew who downed 1582 in his roll-off, took the Bronze.

Daryl Lim Kah Hian missed the medal after finishing fourth with 1530, 44 pins behind third place, Andrew Tan.

Raffles Junior College took the Girls Team Gold medal with Hwa Chong the Silver and Victoria Junior College the Bronze. St. Andrews' Junior College won the Boy's Team Gold medal with Anglo-Chinese Junior College the Silver and Bronze medals. Raffles Junior College also won the Overall champions title with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 bronze medal with

Kevin Koh, Gary Tham captures Boy's Doubles Gold medal

28th May, Singapore: Singles Gold medalist, Kevin Koh partnered Gary Tham tp capture the Boy's Doubles Gold medal for St. Andrew's Junior College with a score of 1665 while Singles Bronze medalist Amy Han paired up with Chua Puay Yin to give Hwa Choong Junior College's first Gold medal in the Girl's Doubles event in the 10th National Schools Bowling Championship at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Yishun.

Kevin downed 840 to Gary's 825 totalling 1665 for a comfortable 105 pins cushion. The Silver medal went to Anglo-Chinese Junior College's Lester Ho and Wilson Quek with a score of 1560. Gregory Quek and Lynal Low of Tampinese Junior College settled for the Bronze medal with 1539.

In the Girl's division, Amy Han (775) and Chua Puay Yin (791) snatched the Gold medal with a total of 1566, 44 pins ahead of second-placed Raffles' Junior College pair of Valerie Teo and Valerie Lee Nai Yi. Valerie Teo, the Singles Gold medalist scored 806 while her partner scored 716 for a total of 1522.

Bronze medal went to Denise Boo and Lynette Yeo from Anglo-CHinese Junior College with a score of 1520.

Meanwhile, Kevin leads the Boy's All Events standings after two events with a total of 1707 followed by Andrew Tan of Hwa Chong J.C. with 1653 in second and Tan Zhi Qiang of Anglo-Chinese J.C. with 1627 in third. The Girl's All Events is lead by Singles Gold medalist, Valerie Teo with 1689 with Amy Han of Hwa Chong J.C. in a distant second on 1577. Third is Amy's teammate, Chua Pauy Ying with 1560.


Competition will continue tomorrow (Thursday 29/5) with the Team event. Following this, a Masters event proudly sponsored by Cathay Bowl will take place on 31 May, where the top 16 bowlers from the Boys and Girls' All Events category will vie for the top three positions. The Masters prize presentation will be held right after the event, at 12.00pm.

Valerie Teo bags National Schools Singles Gold

26th May, Singapore: Asian Championship Silver medalist, Valerie Teo of Raffles' Junior College bagged the Girl's Singles Gold medal in the 10th National Schools Bowling Championship at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Yishun which started yesterday while Kevin Koh Boon Ann captured the Boy's Singles Gold.

The 18 year-old student downed lines of 192, 233, 264 and 194 for a total of 883 with an impressive average of 220.8 for the first Gold medal for Raffles' Junior College. She was 47 pins ahead of her teammate and Silver medalist, Valerie Lee Na Yi who scored 836. Amy Han Huiying from Hwa Chong Junior College settled for the Bronze medal with a score of 802.

In the Boy's division, Kevin Koh Boon Ann from St. Andrew's Junior College bagged the Singles Gold medal with a total of 867 with lines of 238, 210, 225 & 194 and averaging 216.8. Kevin was just 20 pins ahead of Andrew Tan Teng Ho of Hwa Chong Junior College who scored 205, 214, 226 & 202 and total of 847 who took the Silver.

Zheng Yue Peng Anglo-Chinese J.C. scored 793 and settled for the Bronze medal. The 10th National Schools Championship, from 26 to 30 May, will

have a total of 264 youth bowlers from 16 schools vieing for the Singles, Doubles, Team, All Events and Overall Schools championship titles at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Yishun.

A prize presentation for the Singles, Doubles, Quartet, All Events and Overall Schools championship titles winners will be held on 30 May at 12.00pm.

Following this, a Masters event proudly sponsored by Cathay Bowl will take place on 31 May, where the top 16 bowlers from the Boys and Girls' All Events category will vie for the top three positions. The Masters prize presentation will be held right after the event, at 12.00pm.
