The relatively newcomer from Taipei, Yen Chung-Hsiao took the Men's title after defeating his challenger, Hsieh Yu-Ping, twice champion of the AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Malaysia leg in the final step-ladder match 217-201. The all-Taiwanese step-ladder matches started off when 6th-seed, Lin Han-Cheng got the better of 5th-seed Tsai Ting-Yun and 4th-seed Tu Chia-Yuan 233-162-170 to win the match.

Lin failed to progress when 2nd-seed Hsieh Yu-Ping ousted 3rd-seed Ou Ching-Chi and Lin 225-209-179 for a crack at the title. But the champion, Yen Chung-Hsiao proved too good and prevented Hsieh adding another title to his name. Of the 14 places for the AVIVA Asian Bowling Tour Taipei Leg, three were non-Taiwanese comprising of Tom Hahl (SIN - 9th), Sam Goh (SIN - 12th) and Zulmazran Zulkifli (MAS- 14th).

In the women's division, it was nearly another all-Taiwanese step-ladder affair if not for the strong determination shown by Singapore's Alice Tay and Malaysia's Lai Kin Ngoh despite the difficult lane conditions. In the first match between 6th-placed Lai Kin Ngoh, 5th-placed Alice Tay and 4th-seed Chou Miao-Ling of Chinese Taipei, the Busan Asian Games Silver medalist, Lai won the match 194-186-190 to move up the ladder. In the second match between 3rd-seed Cheng Ya-Fang and 2nd-seed Hung Shu-Chun, Lai put up a bold showing but went down 204-216-171 to Cheng.

Cheng forced top-seed Ku Hui-Chin into the sudden-death game after winning the first game 185-173. But Ku recovered to take the women's title after winning the all-important match 201-194.
