3rd December, Hong Kong, China: Malaysia, Korea, Japan and USA made the Women's semi-finals of the HKGX 2025 IBF World Championships while Germany, Sweden, Korea and France made the Men's Team semi-finals to be at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wancai, Kowloon on December 5.
Malaysia, who had Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee winning the Singles silver medal, had failed to make headway in the Doubles and Trios event. They more than made up for their setback by bouncing back to made the Women's Team of 5 semi-finals as top-seed.
They were the only team in Group A Round 2 Matchplay round who did not have to get involved in a tie-breaker when they amassed 15 points from five wins. Singapore finished second, USA third, Korea third and Japan fourth with 12 points each and had to move into a one-game four-way tie-breaker for three teams to join Malaysia.
Korea shot 215, USA 200 and Japan 197 to advance as third, second and fourth respectively while Singapore managed only 174 and crashed out. Malaysia will face Japan and USA will square off with Korea in the Women's semi-finals tomorrow at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.
