Swede tops Singles opening squad

28th June, Kuching, Sarawak: Noel Haglund Torgersen of Sweden topped the Boy's Singles qualifying opening squad of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships underway at Megalanes EMart, Batu Kawah followed by Laurynas Narusis of Lithuania in second and Muhd Aiman Syahin Sulaiman of Malaysia third.

Jacob Bocksite of Team USA got off the block with a sizzling 265 in his opening game to lead Matys Bibeau of Canada by just seven pins. One pin further back came Laurynas Narusis of Lithuania in third. Jovi Ma of Hong Kong and Muhd Aiman Syahin of Malaysia were fourth and fifth.

The American remained in the lead after he rolled back-to-back 265 after the second game to extend his lead to 43 pins. The Malaysian moved into second with 247 following his 240 opener. Narusis and Bibeau kept close to the leading duo.

A stunning 279 from Narusis made the Lithuanian the new lead at the halfway mark while Bocksite managed 214 to slip into second. Ma bounced back from a 215 in the second game with 247 to take up third spot. David Mojka of Czechia and Robin Noberg were fourth and fifth.

Narusis held the lead in his next two games with 214 and 228. Noel Haglund Torgersen shot a brilliant 280 and 217 to share second spot with Muhd Aiman, 19 pins adrift. Torgersen ended with 216 to seal pole position in the qualifying round with 1396.

Narusis settled for second with 1378 after managing only 179 in his sixth and final game. Muhd Aiman took third position with 1367. Bocksite and Mojka rounded out the top five with 1357 and 1339 respectively. The second Boy's Singles squad will contest their qualifying at 1:00pm local time.

The girls will commence their qualifying rounds in two squads with the first squad starting at 5:00pm and the second squad at 9:00am tomorrow morning.
