27th July, Doha: Qurratu'Ain Pozi of Malaysia won the Girl's Singles gold medal of the 24th Asian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships by a whisker of just one pin ahead of China's Li Yiru and Chinese Taipei's Ho Yi-Qing settling for the silver and bronze medals.

Chen Yun-Ying of Chinese Taipei got off the mark with a brilliant 230 in her opening game to lead Li Yi-Rou of China by nine pins with Qurratu'Ain Pozi one pin behind in third. The Malaysian fired a superb 232 in her second game to leapfrog into the lead.

It all came down to the sixth and final game. Li Yiru made no mistake ending with a clean game of 200. Qurratu'Ain had two open frames in the fifth and sixth frames and had looked to have handed the gold to the Chinese.

But she fought on gallantly, reeling in three consecutive strikes to have an upper edge. She prevailed and ended with 199 to earn a well-deserved victory despite just a single pin difference on a total of 1239. Li Yiru settled for the silver with 1238.

Balqis ended with a lowly 174 to drop out of the podium. Ho Wi-Qing stormed home with 213 and 224 to snatch the bronze medal with 1205. Adelia missed the podium with 1197 despite ending with a strong final game of 217.

Mr Abdullah Al-Qattan, President of Qatar Bowling Federation was on hand to present the medals and bouquet of flowers to the winners, assisted by Mr Salem Almarzouqi, Host Tournament Co-Ordinator.
