Team officials attended the managers' meeting held at City Center Rotana Hotel chaired by Dr Danny Santos, Tournament Director, with Mr Salem Al Marzouqi, Host Tournament Co-Ordinator and Mr Doug Dukes, Technical Delegate from Kegel Inc. present as well.
Dr Santos got the meeting underway by welcoming all team officials on behalf of His Excellency, Sheikh Talal Mohammed Al-Sabah, President of IBF/ABF and extended his sincere appreciation to the support of the participating ABF member federations.
A roll call followed, confirming the number of players from each country/territories. He also explained that medal won by Team A (for countries with two teams) will only count towards the overall champion award but players from either teams can win medals for all the events they will compete in.
Dr Santos also went through the schedule of events, lane assignments for the Singles, Doubles and Team of Four events and other matters pertaining to the playing rules.
The official practice sessions, divided into two squads will be held tomorrow, July 26 commencing at 10.00am local time. The official opening ceremony, which will be graced by His Excellency Sheikh Talal Mohammed Al-Sabah at 5.00pm at Qatar International Bowling Center.
Competition will kick off with the Singles event for the girls on Sunday, July 27. The Singles event for the boys, divided into two squads will be held on Monday, July 28. The Doubles will be contested on Tuesday, July 29 and the Team of 4 over two blocks of 3 games each on Wednesday and Thursday, July 30 and 31.
The top 16 based on their All Events standings (18 games) for both the boys and girls divisions will qualify for the Masters Finals, which will be played in a Matchplay Round-Robin format over 8 games in the first block on Friday, August 1 and 7 games plus position round match in the second block on Saturday, July 2.
The top 3 boys and top 3 girls will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout finals. Live video streaming and live scoring throughout the championships will be featured starting with the official opening ceremony.
