20th September, Yancheng: Three from Chinese Taipei, two from host China A and one each from Hong Kong, Korea and DPR Korea advanced to the Men's Masters quarter-finals of 28th East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships from the Round of 16.

Topseed and All Events gold medallist, James Lui of Hong Kong needed a third match to beat 16th-seed, Lin Bing of China B, 2-1 in the best-of-3 Round of 16 to make the next round. Second-seed and two gold medallist, Lee Won Seok of Korea crashed out to Sol Kum Song of DPR Korea, 1-2 to end up in 9th position.

Third-seed Oh Jin Won of Korea advance with a 2-1 victory over Trios gold medallist, Xu Chen of China A while fourth-seed, Ernest Kwok of Hong Kong also made an early exit losing to 13th-seed, Chen Chia-Sheng of Chinese Taipei, 1-2.

A second Taiwanese, Tseng Hung-En ousted Doubles gold medallist, Jo Young Bin of Korea, 2-1 to advance to the next round. Trios gold medallist and perfect gamer, Wang Zhiyong was the first Chinese to advance with a 2-1 victory over Han Jae Hyeon of Korea.


Men's Top 16 Masters finalists before their roll-off

Qi Wankang was the second Chinese joining Wang in the next round after he dispatched compatriot, Zhang Ping of China B, 2-0. Lin Hsin-Feng, the third from Chinese Taipei made up the eighth quarter-finalist beating Lin Pai-Feng, 2-0 in an all-Taiwanese tie.

The Women's Round of 16 will be be staged tomorrow morning to determine the 8 women advancing to the quarter-finals. The men's and women's quarter-finals will be held simultaneously followed by the semi-finals and the final. A Victory Banquet hosted by Yancheng Bowling Association will conclude the 28th edition of this year's East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships.
