Korea adds four more gold medals

4th September, Petaling Jaya: Korea displayed their prowess after adding four more gold medals at the 2nd Asian Para Tenpin Bowling Championship with victories in the Mixed Doubles TPB1+3, TPB4+4, TPB9+9 and TPB10+10 while host Malaysia captured the TPB2+2 and the TPB8+8 categories.

Kim Heung Hwa and Lee Kun Hye got Korea going when the pair romped home with 2093 total to win the first Doubles gold medal in the Mixed TPB1+3 category, 134 pins ahead of their compatriots, Kim Jin Seop and Singles gold medalist, Park Jong Hwan in second to add a silver medal with 1959.

Hong Kong's pair of Hong Ka Lung and Cheung Hoi Tung settled for the bronze medal with 1919, 40 pins futher away in third. Korea's second gold came from Singles gold medalist, Yun Seung Sang and Kim Eun Hyo when they claimed victory in the TPB4+4 category with 2439.

Malaysia's pair of Muhammad Razif Abdul Muiz-Abg Yahya Abg Azhar and Muhamad Hazim Sazali-Muhammad Hazmi Khairil Azri finished second and third with 2384 and 2218 to take the silver and bronze medals.


Korea dominating the Doubles event with three gold medals

The third gold medal picked up by the mighty Koreans was Heo Myeong Jin and Park Ji Eun winning the Doubles TPB9+9 with 2545. Again two Malaysian pairs of Wong Kee Soon-Nadia Syafika Abd Rahman and Marcos Chang-Mohd Azrin Rahim earned the silver and bronze medals with 2538 and 2435 respectively.

Korea's fourth gold was won by Kim Su Yeong and Yoon Hyung Kook in the TPB10+10 category with 2487. Hong Kong's Alex To Chi Sang and Chow Pui Kin settled for the silver with 2456 and the Malaysian pair of Muhamad Amin Abd Rashid and Mohd Fauzi Bin Md Ghazali clinching the bronze with 2243, just two pins ahead of Thailand.

Malaysia did win two gold medals in the TPB2+2 and TPB10+10 categories with Muhamad Suhali Ab Hamid and Ku Izham Ku Harun taking the TPB2+2 Doubles gold with 2316 while Rosheedy Faizal Roslan and Ahmad Nazri Hamzah picked up their fourth gold medal in the TPB8_8 Doubles with 2019.

Thailand's Supparat Ponmingmad and Suphan Sinthusuwan took home the silver medal with 2039. Korea's Oh Ki Seok and Kim Jong Soon were content with the bronze medal with 2010. Competition will shift to the Trios event for TPB1+1/2+2/3, TPB4+4+4 and TPB8+8/9+9/10 categories tomorrow which will end the five-day long championship.
