15th May, Hanoi: Six South East Asian nations will be vying for glory when the much awaited 31st SEA Games Vietnam 2021 gets underway on Monday at Hero World Bowling Center, Vincom Megamall Royal City Shopping Center.

Team officials from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and host, Vietnam attended the managers' technical meeting graced by Mr Dang Khanh Hoa, Chairman Bowling Organizing Committee, Mr Nguyen Van Cuu, Chairman Vietnam Bowling Federation, Ms Suwalai Satrulee, Vice President of Asian Bowling Federation held at the official hotel for teams, the Intercontinental West Lake.

All the six teams sent their full team of four men and four women. A total of 24 men and 24 women will take to the lanes tomorrow for their official practice sessions.

Before the technical meeting started, Mr Dang Khanh Hoa and Mr Nguyen Van Cuu welcomed all team officials and thanked them for supporting the games and sending their teams.

Both Mr Dang and Mr Nguyen presented souvenirs to Ms Suwalai Satrulee, Dr Danny Santos, Mr John Janawicz, Technical Officier and Mr Steve Robles, member of ABF Excutive Committee, Mr Maradona Cheok, Secretary General of Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress and Ms Suwalai as members of the Jury of Appeal, appointed by Sheikh Talal Mohamed Al-Sabah, President of IBF and ABF.

Dr Santos subsequently kicked of the meeting by introducing the technical officiers including Mr Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Bowling Federation and Mr Dinh Ngoc Hieu, Host Tournament Coordinator for the games.

The technical delegate went through several important issues including the schedule, technical matters, transportation requirements and the Covid-19 protocols. Dr Santos outline the need for all athletes to get daily Covid-19 tests made available at Novotel Hotel Suites.

Mr Janawicz outlined the oiling patterns used for the games and advised all team officials to have their bowlers submit their ball registration papers. He also advised team managers present how to re-register alternative bowling balls should they wish to. Only random checks will be conducted and there will ne requirement to inspect the balls prior to the start of the competition.

Lane draws were also conducted with the assistence of Mr Dinh Ngoc Hieu for the Singles, Doubles and Team events for both men and women divisions. Each nation will only be able to field two (2) men and two (2) women bowlers for the Singles, two (2) doubles team for both genders and one team for the Team of Four event. No medal will be awarded for the All-Events and there will be no Masters event for this games.

Competition will commence with Singles on May 16, Doubles on May 17 and culminating with the Team of Four events over two days on May 18 and concluding on May 19. Asian Bowling Federation will be on site to provide live scoring and daily reports for the games.
