Emirati celebrates fourth title

9th May, Manama: UAE's Shaker Al-Hassan celebrated his fourth tour title in style after he out-classed challenger and local hopeful, Yousif Falah, 279-175 in the finals of the ABF Tour Bahrain leg to claim his fourth career tour title.

Shaker Al-Hassan never gave his opponent any hope at all of the home victory after taking an early lead with five strikes in a row in the title match as Yousif opened in the third frame to trail by 50 pins.

The Emirati went on to struck out after a spare in the sixth frame to end the match with 279, the highest of the leg. Yousif had two more open frames and failed to repeat the form he showed earlier in the semi-finals.

Shaker simply outclassed the lanky Yousif, 279-175 to claim his fourth career tour title. His last triumph was winning the Hong Kong leg last year. The champion reach the finals after another convincing victory over Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang, 267-168 in the semi-finals.

Yousif earned a crack at the title after he defeated Fawaz Abdulla, 229-211 in the other all-Baharain semi-finals. Shaker first edged Kuwait leg champion, Hussain Al-Suwaidi, 202-192 in Round 1 and Jassem Darwish of Kuwait, 223-172 in Round 2.


Yousif had to beat another fellow-compatriot, Hameed Taqi 267-213 in the first round and Kuwait's Khaled Al-Dubyyan, 190-173 in the second round before dispatching Fawaz Abdulla in the semi.

After four legs in the middle east, Kuwait leg champion, Hussain Al-Suwaidi led the tour rankings with 213 points with a victory, two seconds and a Round 2 appearance. Khaled is second with 156 points with Shaker moving into third with 124 points.

The women had only one leg held so far this year and Thailand's Angkana Netvriseth led with 75 points after victory in the Thailand leg last month. Korgunnya Aree of Thailand and Korea's Kim Eun Jung are second and third with 60 and 46 points.
