Emirati wins opening leg

9th March, Sitra, Bahrain: Four-time tour champion, Hussain Al-Swuaidi of UAE earned his fifth ABF Tour title after winning the opening leg of the ABF Tour Bahrain at the Ozone Entertaineent Center in Sitra Mall.

Hussain started the final match much stronger with a double strike as Ahmed A. Jabbar of Bahrain had an open frame in the third. Although the Emirati could find another strike till the seventh frame, Ahmed opened again in the fifth frame.

Hussain struck out from frame 7 to romp home a easy victory over his challenger, 245-191 to win his fifth tour title.

Hussain's first tour title was back in 2008 when he triumphed in Kuwait before winning his second in Thailand in 2009. He repeated his feat by winning the 2010 Kuwait leg and the 2010 ABF Tour Tournament of Champions.

The champion reached the finals after dispatching Hong Kong's Eric Tseng in the semi-final, 227-206. He also eliminated another Hong Kong national, Wicky Yeung 214-167 in Round 2.


Hussian rolled the highest game of the tournament with a 287-199 victory over Qatar's Mansour Al-Awamy in the first round.

Ahmed reached the finals after beating his compatriot and tour debutant, Ahmed Amin Al-Awahdi in an all-Bahraini semi-finals, 211-191. The first runner-up beat Kuwait's Khaled Al-Dubyyan, 222-200 in Round 2.

In the first round, Ahmed edged 2012 Tour ranking leader, Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia, 187-169 to avance into the second round.

Top seed and Bahrain Open second runner-up, Yousef Al-Jaber made an early exit after losing to last year's Bahrain eg champion, Andrew Frawley of Australia, 194-225 while second seed, Fawaz Abdulla lost to Hong Kong's Michael Tsang, 215-232 in Round 1.

Mr Abdulla Al-Dosery, President of Bahrain Bowling Association was on hand to present the trophy to the champion. The second leg of this year's ABF Tour will be staged in Kuwait on March 18.
