Maiden tour title for Qatari

30th April, Cairo: Qatar national bowler, Mansour Al-Awami clinched his maiden tour title after he defeated challenger, Jassem Darwish of Kuwait, 237-200 in the finals of the inaugural 2010 ABF Tour Egypt leg at International Bowling Centre on Friday.

In the title match, Jassem Darwish of Kuwait failed to spare his second frame and Mansour could not repeat his earlier striking form which saw very little separating the two title contenders.

The 22-year-old Kuwaiti then recovered from his earlier miss to down four consecutive strikes from frame sixth and began to mount a challenge. But Mansour responded galantly by knocking down a turkey himself.

Jassem had an opportunity to close out the Qatari but luck was not kn his side when he encountered a bad split in the last frame to end the match with 200 while Mansour struck out to take the match and the title by a convincing 237.

Top seed and newly-crowned 12th Sinai Open champion, Shaker Al-Hassan of UAE crashed out in the opening round to Mohamed Al Serafy, 190-225. Mohamed also eliminated Saudi leg champion, Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong, 220-187 before going down to the eventual champion in the semi.
