Indonesians celebrate grand double

Nadia, who lost to Sharon Limansantoso last year, took her revenge when she defeated her compatriot, 202-183 in the all-Indonesian women's final match and Lalisang edged this year's Thailand leg champion, Lee Tak Man of Macau, 225-213 in the men's final match to give Indonesia another double.

Nadia got off to a better start, sparing her first frame and striking in the second as Limansantoso had a split in her opening frame. When Nadia opened in the third frame, things were all level but her challenger encountered another split in the fourth frame.

Although Nadia doubled up in fourth an fifth frames, a bad single-pin miss put her just one frame up on her opponent. Fortunately she was able to roll three strikes-in-a-row to pull away to win her first-ever tour title.

The topseed edged Putty Armein, 207-203 in her Round 2 match before defeating Puteri Astari, 214-202 in the all-Indonesia first women semi-final match to reach the final.

Limansantoso dispatched Aldila Indryati, 235-224 in Round 2 before knocking out 2014 ABF Tour TOC winner, Chan Shuk Han of Hong Kong, 194-177 to reach the final.

Meanwhile, the match between Lalisang and Lee in the men's division was a much closer affair. The Indonesian had a better start with a double strike in his two opening frames but his challenger was able to draw level after rolling a double strike in the fourth and fifth frames.

By the ninth frame, there was only two pins separating the duo but Lee had two strikes in the eighth and ninth frames before going onto the tenth. Another two more stikes would put pressure on his opponent. His first throw in the tenth frame saw a stubborn pin-7 standing which he subsequently spared and struck in his bonus frame to end with 213.

Lalisang struck out to win his second tour title this year and giving a double for Indonesia. His first tour title came in Kuwait in March making him the first Asian to win two tour titles in a single year.

The champion had earlier defeated Hengki Susanto, 216-175 in the first all-Indonesia men semi-final match to advance to the final. Lee had to work extra hard winning the 9 and 10 frames tie-breaker over 2015 Macau leg champion, Michael Mak of Hong Kong, 39-38 when the duo tied at 226 in the other semi.

Lalisang also sailed past Sitiphol Kunaksorn of Thailand, 211-141 in the opening round before thrashing Isaac Russell of Malaysia, 247-202 in the second round.

Nadia won US$500 as the women's champion and Lalisang was awarded US$1,000 for his victory in the men's division. Mr Mahendra Wardhana, Organizing Chairman of the 13th Indonesia International Open presented the prizes and trophies to the winners.

The Indonesia leg is the fourth and final leg for women division. 2015 Macau leg champion, Veronica De Souza topped the rankings with 135 points ahead of Tannya Roumimper of Indonesia in second with 110 points and 2015 Hong Kong leg champion, Wendy Chai third with 108.

The top 16 women in the standings have qualified for the Tournament of Champions to be staged in Kuwait in March, 2016. Zoe Tam of Hong Kong is the cut in 16th position with 48 points.

The final leg for the men's division will be in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 8. Three Asian men, Aseel Al Roomi of Kuwait, Qatar leg champion, Ghanim Aboujassoum of Qatar ad Joshua Chow tied 15th position with 75 points each.
