Shah Alam all set for 18th Asian Intercity championship |
21st September, Kuala Lumpur: Shah Alam Bowling Club is all set to host the 18th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship from September 27 to October 3 at Megalanes Shah Alam in the Alam Sentral Shopping Complex, when participants and officials from 17 Asian cities will arrive this weekend. |

17 Men and 7 Women team have submitted their entries to this unique and prestigious event, where some of the top Asian bowlers from 17 cities throughout the Asian region, will contest for glory.
Auckland, Capitol Hill, Chennai, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kowloon, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Macau, Mumbai, Paranaque City, Pasay City, Saipan, San Juan, Tsuen Wan, Uiwang and host, Shah Alam are the cofirmed cities participating in this year's championship.
New cities Chennai and Mumbai from India are the two new cities participating for the first time ever while Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan are guest cities of the host, Shah Alam. Auckland from New Zealand is also joining the championship after an absent for several years. |

"I am confident that Selangor not only offer a suitable venue to such an important event, but can also offer participants and officials to take home fond memories of their stay here," said Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamad Khir Bin Toyo, Chief Minister of Selangor in his message for the souvenir programme.
"This championship will not only promote the spirit of sportmanship among the participants but most important of all, it can provide an avenue for us to futher enhance our relationship and bring us closer together," said Tuan Ramli Mahmud, Mayor of Shah Alam in his message.
"Regional championships such as this, provides a friendly arena for Asian federations to nuture their young bowlers and to promote the sport of tenpin bowling in Asian cities," said Mr Sheikh Talal Mohammad Al-Sabah, newly-elected President of Asian Bowling Federation in his message.
"For the past 17 cosecutive years, Asian cities hosted in turn the championship, provided not only an arena for bowling competition but also a unique charming city for sharing our friendship. I trust that the 18th time of fun will be a remarkable memory to us all," said Mr Huang Wan Cheng, President of the Asian Intercity Bowling Council in his message.
Four events, namely Singles, Doubles, Team and Masters events will be contested commencing 29th September and will end with the prestigious Masters finals on the 3rd October. The official opening ceremony will be held on the 28th September at Megalanes Shah Alam at 8.00pm and YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamad Khir Bin Toyo, Menteri Besar of Selangor, will be the guest of honor to declare open the championship.
The championship is supported by Selangor State Government, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam and the State Tourism Authority. The sponsors are Malaysia Airlines (official carrier), Megalanes Shah Alam (official venue), Concorde Hotel Shah Alam (official hotel), F&N 100-Plus and Boon Koon Vehicles Industries Sdn Bhd.

14 Men and 8 Women team have confirmed their participation in this unique and prestigious event, where some of the top Asian bowlers from 22 cities throughout the Asian region, will contest for glory.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Concorde Hotel this afternoon, attended by Y.Bhg. Encik Ramli Mahmood, Datuk Bandar Shah Alam, Encik Abdul Ghani, Director of Boon Koon Vehicles Industries Sdn Bhd, Mr Richar Lai, Director of Megalanes Shah Alam, Encik Muhammad Fauzi, Regional Special Event & Sponsorship Manager of F&N Coca Cola (M) Sdn Bhd (100-Plus), Encik Zaid Hj Jamaludin, Marketing Communications Manager of Concorde Hotel Shah Alam, government officials and distinguished guests.

The teams comprising of four men and four women accompanied by officials, represent 22 cities from Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, New Zealand, Philippines, Saipan, Singapore, Thailand and host Malaysia.
