Introduction

The West Asian Games aims to promote friendship, understanding and peace in the region and take active measures in order to increase the Olympic movement through its motto of "Faith, Health and development."

The West Asian Games are held every four years as a predecessor to the Asian Games and involve 13 member countries of West Asia.

The Third West Asian Games is expected to be the largest in terms of number of countries and athletes. It will also be the first West Asian Games to welcome women as participants

The organisation of the West Asian Games was given to the Qatar National Olympic Committee (QNOC), member of the West Asian Games Federation. The QNOC has delegated the duties to organise the Games to the West Asian Games Organising Committee (WAGOC). The Organising Committee shall coordinate the affairs in direct consultation with the West Asian Games Federation.

The West Asian Games Organising Committee (WAGOC) is a joint collaboration between the Qatar National Olympic Committee and the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee.

The Director General of the committee is Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and the Deputy Director General is Mr. Abdulla Al-Qahtani.

WAGOC is determined to stage a memorable West Asian Games in a spirit of friendship through sport. Through the Games, the unique talents and culture of the nation’s people will shine through.

WAGOC is responsible for the organisation of the West Asian Games from opening to closing and for all other relevant affairs as approved by the West Asian Games Federation. It will coordinate the relevant sports related affairs with the concerned Asian and International Sports Federations and will ensure that all sports receive equal attention.
