16th May, Doha: First block leader, Saudi Arabia added a third gold medal at the 4th GCC Games Bowling Championship with victory in the Team of Five event while Qatar's Bader Alsada, Jassim Almuraikhi and Talal Almarri swept all the All Events medals.

Qatar's Talal Almarri, Ahmad Aldarwish, Abdulrahman Aldoseri, Bader Alsada with anchorman, Jassim Almuraikhi got off the second block with a superb 990 while Saudi Arabia's Abdulrahman Alkheliwi, Ziyad Altuwaireb, Abdulmajeed Alaslani, Bandar Alyabah and Ahmed Abualreesh managed 938 to share the lead.

UAE's Ahmed Abdulla Almahri, Hamad Ahmad Ahli, Sultan Mohammed Alqubaisi, Humaid Ahmed Almaazmi and Abdulla Albooshi remained in third with 978. The Saudis edged Qatar by nine pins after rolling 964 and the Qataris shot 955 to trail in second.

A 941 from the Emratis was good enough to maintain third spot as Kuwait was unable to mount sny serious challenge for third. The final game was an intense affair as both Saudi Arabia and Qatar were on their sixth and final game just two lanes away.

Saudi Arabia survived the onslaught from Qatar to end with 923 to seal victory and secured their third gold with 5735. Qatar managed 916 and felled short by 16 pins to settle for the silver medal with 5719. UAE ended strongest with 956 to clinch the bronze medal with 5650.

Kuwait missed the podium to finish fourth with a disappointing 5511. Meanwhile, Bader Alsada led a clean sweep of the All Events to win the gold medal with 5009 after 24 games contested over four events. Jassim Almuraikhi took the silver with 4995 and Talal Almarri earned the bronze medal with 4896.

Mostafa Almousawi of Kuwait, who was third after the first block of the Team of 5, missed the podium after slipping down to fourth with 4837. The top 12 in the All Events rankings qualified for the Round-Robin Masters finals over two blocks of 6 games tomorrow.

The top 3 at the end of the second block will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout finals. Saudi Arabia led the Medal standings with 3 gold and 1 silver medal. Qatar trailed in second with a medal haul of 2-4-2. Kuwait has two bronze and UAE has one bronze.
