18th June, Petaling Jaya: Malaysian Podium squad member, Siti Safiyah Amirah led the Top 8 women qualifiers of the Mixed Open division at the Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championships 2026 while debutant, Wesley Low of USA topped the Mixed Pool.

Siti Safiyah amassed a six-game aggregate of 1514 from two squads 756 and 758 to lead the top 8 women qualifiers. Jang Min A of Korea, who led briefly, slipped down to second with 1437. Early leader, Manon Ishda of Japan dropped to third with 1431.

Nur Syazwani Sahar of Malaysia took fourth spot with 1421 followed by a second Japanese, Mizuki Nakashima in fifth spot with 1419. Han Yoon A of Korea, Nur Aleeya Syakirah of Malaysia and Haru Suzuki of Japan completed the top 8 with 1399, 1389 and 1387 respectively.

Wesley Low rolled 831 and 705 for a six-game tally of 1536 to lead the Mixed Pool. Low, who qualified well during the 44th Malaysian International Open, only to miss out on the Stepladder finals after finishing fourth. He then competed in the 56th Singapore International Open but did not make any impact.

Returning to Malaysia for this championship, he will surely try to make amends and perform much better. Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of FND Empire/UPM was Malaysia's best qualifier finishing second to the American with 1520. Defending champion, Izz Naqiuddin Putera took third position with 1511.

2026 Singapore Open first runner-up, Tun Hakim of Malaysian Podium squad and 2024 Malaysian National Men's Open champion, Hazim Alihanafiah rounded out the top five with 1510 and 1489 respectively.

The top 10 women qualifiers and the top 30 qualifiers from the Mixed pool will contest the 8-games Masters Finals on Saturday, June 21 with a top prize of RM30,000. There will also be Masters finals for the Men's Graded, Women's Graded, Youth Boys and Youth Girls Open and Youth Boys and Youth Girls Graded divisions.
