14th June, Petaling Jaya: Ex-international, Jeong Tae Hwa of Korea bagged the Men's Senior Masters title of the MILO Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championships 2026 underway at Sunway Megalanes on Sunday ahead of two Singaporeans, Rick Tan and Paiman Dali in second and third.

Muhd Yusuf of Singapore got off to a superb start with 233 to lead fellow compatriot, Abdul Jalil Hamid by 36 pins. Two Malaysians, Edwin Yeoh and Kenny Yap trailed in third and fourth. Muhd Yusuf added 191 in the second game to remain in the lead while Yap shot s respectable 214 to take up second spot.

Yap added a big game of 261 in the third to take over the lead with Jeong Tae Hwa gradually moving up the field to second. Muhd Yusuf could not keep the pace and had slip down to third. Yap maintained his lead after 202 in the fourth as Muhd Yusuf recovered while Rick Tan of Singapore made his bid.

The Korean ended strongest with 205 and 245 to seal victory with 1361. Tan, who shot a sizzling 290 in the fourth game finished second with 1346, just 15 pins adrift while Paiman Dali stormed home to snatch third position with 1339.

Seasoned campaigner, Hairon Wang of Singapore and Mohd Nasir of Malaysia rounded out the top 5 with 1303 and 1301 respectively. Jeong won RM8,000 as champion witht eh two Singaporeans taking home RM6,000 and RM4,000 as first and second runners-up respectively.

Meanwhile, 2021 World Senior Doubles gold medalist, Sandra Raj of Malaysia captured the Women's Senior Masters crown with 1249 beating pace-setter, Felinda Grzybowska of Philippines and Romahanum Bte Othman of Malaysia who finished second and third with 1216 and 1191.

Datin Jude Khadijah of Malaysia set the early pace with a 205 opener but dropped off after a disastrous 115 in her second game. Grzybowska took over the lead after the second game and held the lead for the next two games with Raj and Romahanum trading second spot.

Raj ended with 242 and 206 to clinch the title, 33 pins ahead of Grzybowska in second and Romahanum in third. Poziah Atan and Rosnani of Singapore completed the top 5 with 1128 and 1119. Raj pocketed RM5,000 for her effort with Grzybowska and Romahanum picking up RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.

Qualifying for the Mixed Open, Graded and Youth divisions will commence tomorrow and end on 19th June. The Youth Open, Youth U-12 and Graded Masters finals will be held on 20th June while the Mixed Open Masters finals will conclude this year's championship on 21st June.
