12th July, Incheon: Paul Purps of Germany will face Carl Eklund of Sweden in the Boy's Singles final of the 2024 INF World Youth Championships while Stella Lokfors of Finland will meet Arianne Tay of Singapore in the Girl's final scheduled for July 18.
Topseed, Bae Junghun of Korea, won his the first semi-final match, 257-248 against fourth-seed, Carl Eklund of Sweden. But the Swede responded with a win over the Korean, 278-247 in the second match forcing a third decider. Whilst Eklund could not repeat the form he showed in the second mat, Bae was having a hard time with the changing condition of the lanes.
Eklund, who won the Singles gold medal at the 2022 World Youth in Sweden, eventually sealed his place in the final with 215-186. In the other semi-final match between second-seed, Paul Purps of Germany and Ben Pettit of New Zealand, the German cruised to an easy victory with a 2-0 (229-159, 231-152) to set up the finale with the Swede.
Bae and Pettit settled with a bronze medal each. Eklund had won the one-game tie-breaker in yesterday's Matchplay Rounds, 246-212 after tying in second with Japan's Daiya Saito on 15 points. Eklund advanced to join the New Zealander as the top two winners of Group B.
