15th December, Bangkok: Eighth-seed, Charmaine Chang Yu Qian of Singapore outshone second-seed Natasha Roslan of Malaysia in the final to bag the Women's Singles gold medal of the 33rd SEA Games Bowling Championships as Singapore's Colleen Pee and Indonesia's Sharon Limansantoso took home a bronze medal each.

Both the title contenders started the final match cautiously picking up their spares in the first two frames. It was Chang who rolled two strikes-in-a-row from frame three first. But Natasha responded with a double in the fourth and fifth frames to draw level.

A split in the seventh frame proved costly for the Malaysian as the Singaporean shot four consecutive strikes to put the match beyond Natasha. Chang went on to seal victory, 234-191 to give Singapore their first gold in the singles event.

Natasha, who settled for the silver medal, had earlier ousted fourth-seed, Sharon Limansantoso of Indonesia, 214-207 in the semi-finals to advance to the final. Chang edged Colleen Pee, 244-234 in the other all-Singapore semi-finals to reach the final.

Limansantoso defeated Adania Mohd Redzwan of Malaysia, 212-183 in the third quarter-finals and Pee ended Thailand's hope of a medal after beating Chawakorn Wutti, 203-196 in the fourth quarter-finals.

In the earlier six-games qualifying round, Posadas topped the round with 1322 followed by Natasha in second with 1320. Adania took third spot with 1309 after setting the pace. Wutti finished fourth with 1281. Pee, Limansantoso, Alisha and Chang finished fifth to eighth positions making up the top 8 to advance to the quarter-finals.

Competition will shift to the Doubles event with the Men contesting the 6-games qualifying round on December 16 starting at 10.00am local time. The top 8 pairs with the highest team total will qualify for the quarter-finals.
