10th September, Kuching: Top-seed, Megat Zaqrul Haiqal of Penang captured the 3DU Masters title of the Sarawak International Open Bowling Championships 2026 after defeating challenger and Malaysian National Podium squad member, Izz Naqiuddin Putera, 244-224 in the second deciding match.

Megat Zaqrul had to work hard for his victory after being over-powered by his opponent, Izz Naqiuddin, 215-259 in the first match and forcing a second sudden-death decider. Both contender started the second match brilliantly with three strikes-in-a-row.

But it was Izz Naqiuddin who stumbled to a costly miss in the fourth frame after he failed to make a 3-pin spare. Megat Zaqrul spared his next two frame while Izz Naqiudin struck in the fifth frame to trail by 13 pins.

Megat extended his lead with a turkey in the sixth to eighth frames and despite Izz Naqiuddin rolling a turkey from frame seven, Megat ended with a double in the tenth frame to seal victory with 224. His opponent ended with 224 to settle for the first runner-up position.

Izz Naqiuddin edged third-seed, Airel Amri Bin Suhaimi, a National Backup squad member, 194-171 in the semi-final match to face the top-seed in the final.

In the earlier 8-game Masters roll-off, Megat Zaqrul topped the finals with 1969, 24 pins ahead of Izz Naqiuddin in second with 1945. Airel Amri, who was second before the final game, held on to third to make the stepladder finals.

Muhammad Syazirol Shamsuddin, a member of the National Podium squad, missed the cut by 27 pins after finishing fourth with 1899 while Ethan Damien Goh, who rolled the second perfect game of the championship completed the top five with 1867.

The champion pocketed RM10,000 as champion with Izz Naqiuddin and Airel Amri taking home RM5,000 and RM2,500 as first and second runners-up. Prizes were awarded from fourth to 40th position.
