29th June, Kuching, Sarawak: Singapore will square off with USA in the Girl's Semi-finals of the 2026 IBF World Youth Championships after Lim Shi En topped Matchplay Group A with Hazel Tan Wei Ning in second while Katelyn Abigania and Gianna Brandolino finished first and second in Group B.

Lim won six out of the seven matches contested. She picked up two wins in the first two matches but lost the third. The Singaporean bounced back with four wins-in-a-row for a total of 18 points and a total pinfalls on 1517 to finished top of Group A.

Tan, who lost her opening match fought back brilliantly with four wins-in-a-row, but lost her sixth match. She finished off with her fifth win to tie with Elizabeth Teuber of USA, who also picked up five wins, on 15 points a piece.

The Singaporean defeated the American, 255-228 in the one-game roll-off to break the tie and deservedly earn second spot in the group to advance to the semi-finals. Maxine Bolek of Germany won three matches and tied one to finish fourth with 10 points.

Meanwhile, Abigania topped Group B with a higher final match of 211 despite tieing with team-mate, Gianna Brandolino on 15 points each on five wins. Brandolino joined Abigania in the semi-finals after she finished second in the group. Strong contenders like Qurratu'Ain Izdihar of Malaysia and Paek Yedam of Korea managed only four wins each to end up in third and fourth positions with 12 points each.

The semi-finals will be a Singapore versus USA affair. Lim will face Abigania inn the first semi-finals match over best-of-3 format while Brandolino will meet Tan in the other semi. The winners will meet in the final match. The losers of the semi-finals will be awarded a bronze medal each.
