30th July, Doha: Malaysian boys and girls set course for team glory after leading the Team of Four first block of three games at the 24th Asian Junior Tenpin Bowling Championships ahead of Kuwait A and Qatar B boys teams and Chinese Taipei and China girls team.

Kuwait Team A of Adel Ali, Hussain Qasem, Saleh Aladsani and Nasser Alkandari set blistering pace with 983 in their opening game to lead China's Tian Qirui, Zhu Xihao, Zhao Mingyu and Li Yuyang by 100 pins. Qatar B Team of Abdulla Al Dosary, Hamad Al Abdulla, Hassan Al Muraikhi and Abdulrahman Al Doseri was third.

The Kuwaiti foursome added another superb 916 in their second game to extend their lead to 110 pins. Singles bronze medalist, Muhammad Aqil Faizal rolled the tournament's third 300 in the second game to help his team-mates of Sayed Abdullah, Muhammad Hafiz Azhlan and Wan Muhammad Zarif Mazlan moved into second spot with a sizzling 966.

Singles gold medalist, Nguyen Tan Dat with Nguyen Tan Hoang, Khoi Tran Hoang and Hieu Vu Minh added 894 to their 856 opener to take up third spot.


Boy's Team Block 1 leader, Malaysia A

Malaysia A ended the first block in the lead with 930 and a team total of 2719. Kuwait A managed 798 to settle for second position with 2697 while Qatar B bounced back with a brilliant 971 in the third game to finish third with 2670.

Meanwhile, two gold medalist, Qurratu' Ain Pozi of Malaysia A team shot the highest three-games series of 611 to help her team-mates, Intan Nor Azliman, Natalie Chong and Adelia Nur Syazalee topped the Girl's Team of Four in the first block.

Malaysia led from start to finish with lines of 773, 757 and 754 for a total of 2284. Doubles silver and bronze medalists, Ho Yi-Qing, Li Yi-Rou, Chen Yun-Ying and Huang Hsin-Tsen, who trailed the Malaysians from the start, settled for second spot with 2244.

China's Sun Luming, Li Yiru (17), Shen Xuxi and Singles silver medalist, Li Yiru (15) amassed a first block total of 2215, 29 pins away from the Taiwanese in third. Malaysia B Team and Kuwait completed the top five with 2131 and 1656 respectively.

Qurratu' Ain Pozi looked set to pick up her third gold medal after leading the Girl's All Events standings with 3096 after 15 games contested. Huang Hsin-Tsen and Intan Nor Aliman occupied second and third with 3007 and 2945.


Girl's Team Block 1 leader, Malaysia A

48th Hong Kong Open Masters champion, Nasser Alkandari of Kuwait topped the Boy's All Events table with 3416 followed by Doubles gold medalist, Masaed Al Muraikhi of Qatar A in second with 3334 and Muhammad Aqil Faizal third with 3311.

The players will resume with their second block of three games commencing at 2:00pm local time. The top 16 boys and top 16 girls in their respective All Events standings will qualify for the Masters finals.
