New schedule for championship

12th August, Hong Kong: A revised schedule of the World Women Championships 2011, which will be held at Hong Kong Bowling City from September 1 to 11, has been released by the organising committee.

The revised and trimmed down schedule is a result of a lower number of participating countries (33) and bowlers (171) which will cut a couple of hours each day. There will be three squads instead of four in Singles and three Doubles squads, two instead of three in the Trios while the Team of 5 will compete in one squad instead of two.

There will also be three squads for the official practice instead of four, which begins on September 2 after which the teams will take a break before assembling for the official opening ceremony at 20.00 hrs.

Before the Singles commence on September 3 and Doubles on September 5, a 10 minute practice will be allocated before the start of each squad. A 15 minute practice will be allocated for the Trios on September 7.

A 25 minute pratice will be allocated for the Team of 5 event on September 9. Medal ceremonies will be held immediately after the finals of each of the event while the medal presentation for the All Events will be held before the Team of 5 Semi-finals.

WTBA approves WWC 2011 logo

3rd March, Hong Kong: The World Tenpin Bowling Association has approved the logo of the World Women Championship 2011 which will be held in Hong Kong, China on 2-12 September, 2011.

The logo is designed by a quite well-known designer in Hong Kong, William Chan (William Chan Design). He has been designing all the posters for the Hong Kong Open as well as the Asian Championships hosted in Hong Kong.

This logo was chosen because it looked like a woman throwing a bowling ball. He also designed the posters and banners for the Equestrian Event hosted in Hong Kong for the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as for the DanceSports Competition of the 5th Hong Kong East Asian Games in 2009.

William also designed the poster and promotional materials for the 2010 Hong Kong Sports Stars Award organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China which was held two weeks ago.
