12th July, Incheon: The first Swedish pair of Alex Joki and Robin Noberg topped the Boy's Doubles first qualifying squad of the 2024 IBF World Youth ahead of Finland's Rami Mukkula-Karo Hilokoski in second and Korea's Bae Junghun-Kim Seongtak and in third.
Martin Malcho and Simon Jaros of Slovakia set a cracking pace with a sizzling 268 in their opening game to lead Kosei McGrath Takeji and Will Pettit of New Zealand in second. Puerto Rico and Qatar followed closely in third and fourth.
The New Zealander pair surged into the lead after adding 258 in the second game as the Slovakians trailed in second. Mukkula and Hilokoski began to also pick their pace to stay close to the leading duo. While the Finns took over the running after the third game, Joki and Noberg started to pick up pace too.
Back-to-back strong games from the Joki and Noberg show the Swedish pair taking over the running. The leader added two more strong games of 258 and 268 before ending the block with 235 to win the squad with 2317. Finland settled for second with 2228.
