Korea tops Team qualifying round

14th July, Incheon: Korea topped the Team of 4 qualifying rounds of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships ahead of Malaysia in second and Sweden third at Fiesta Bowling Center on Sunday evening.

Singapore quartet led the pack of 20 teams with 243 in their opening game, eight pins ahead of Korea in second with 235 and Malaysia in third with 224. Singapore continued to set a strong pace with 219 as Korea kept pace with 213 to stay in second.

Singapore continued to lead with another strong game of 224 and Korea 227, 11 pins adrift after three games. Korea then fired a sizzling 267 and 248 in their next two games to surge ahead of their arch rival by 65 pins. Despite a lackluster second half of the block, Korea held on to win with 2095 pinfalls.

Malaysia stormed home to snatch second position with 2016. Sweden also made good progress to leapfrog the Singaporean quartet for third position with 2014. Singapore finished fourth with 1979 while Team USA completed the top five with 1962.


Boy's Doubles title match between Germany and USA

The cut in 16th position was closely fought out amongst Chinese Taipei, Philippines and Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican quartet ended with 192 to claim 15th position with 1799 and the Taiwanese ended with 184 to clinch 16th position with 1785.

Philippines ended wit a disastrous 165 to slip out of the top 16 with 1776, just 9 pins off the cut. The top 16 qualified for the Matchplay Rounds, scheduled for July 16. The top 2 winners of each group will advance to the Semi-finals shootout.

The boys will take to the lanes tomorrow for their Team qualifying rounds, divided into two groups of eight teams. The head-to-head Matchplay rounds over seven matches. The top two at the end of the squad will advance to the Semi-final rounds.
