Malaysia, Singapore leads Team first block

24th August, Petaling Jaya: Malaysia set course to break their 15-year Team drought after leading the Boy's Team of Four first block at the 22nd Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships while Singapore continued their dominance with the hope of capturing their fourth gold after leading the Girl's division.

Kuwait's Abdulrzzaq Mohamd, Adel Ali, Nasser Alkandari and Hassan Qasem got off the block brilliantly with stunning 906 in their opening game to lead Korea's Bae Jung Hun, Kim Woo Jin, Bae Su Hyeon and Shin Ji Ho by 52 pins. Doubles gold medalist, Ethan Damien Goh and Muhammad Aiman Syahin teamed up with Wan Muhammad Zarif and Muhammad Dabial Abu Samah was third.

Korea added a sizzling 951 in their second game to take over the running as Malaysia also returned a superb 925 to move up into second. Kuwait suffered a slight setback with 820 to slip down to third.

Malaysia ended the first block the strongest with 869 to lead the pack with 2635. Korea needed 830 or more to remain the leader but managed only 766 to settle for second with 2571.


Boy's Team first block leader, Malaysia

The Kuwaiti quartet finished with 785 to remain in third position with 2511. Japan's Daiya Saito, Keisuke Sinagawa, Eita Saotome and Fumine Suda took up fourth spot with 2443 while Singapore rounded out the top five with 2410.

In the Girl's division, Singapore continued to show their dominance by leading from start to finish with 856, 876 and 762 and took top spot with 2494. Korea's Paek Ye Dam, Jo Yoon Seo, Noh Hye Min and Lee Da Eun finished second to Singapore with 2460, 34 pins adrift.

Malaysia's Qurratu 'Ain Izdihar, Nurul Anis Nabila, Adelia Nur Syazalee and Adania Mohd Redzwan, who was second at the start, slipped down to a distant third with 2308. Chinese Taipei's Ho I-Ching, Li Yi-Rou, Wang Yu-Tang and Huang Hsin-Tsen ended the first block in fourth with 2273.

Noh Hye Min of Korea led the Girl's All Events standings after 15 games with 3177, just four pins ahead of Lim Shi Eng of Singapore in second. Singles silver medalist, Paek Ye Dam made up the top 3 with 3165. Muhammad Aiman Syahin topped the Boy's division with 3487.

Hassan Qasem of Kuwait finished third with 3423, 19 pins from the leader. Bae Jung Hin and Kim Woo Jin and Singles gold medalist, Aiman Raedyn Lim Jen completed the top 5 with 3314 and 3268 respectively.


Singapore leading the Girl's Team of 4 first block

The players will resume with their second block of 3-games Team of 4 tomorrow at 9:00am. The top 3 finisher at the end of the second block will be awarded the medals. The top 3 boys and girls in the All Events standings will also be awarded medals on August 26.
