28th June, Macau: Chou Chia-Chen of Chinese Taipei successfully defended the Women's Open Masters title of the 2025 Macao-China International Open while top-seed, Jang Tae Joon of KNSU, Korea bagged the Men's Open Masters crown.

Chou, who was the top-seed for the Stepladder finals, lost to challenger and fourth-seed, Thanchanok Vilailuk of Thailand, 188-194 forcing her to a second deciding match. The Taiwanese bounced back with a vengeance by starting off with four strikes-in-a-row to lead the Thai by 31 pins.

Thanchanok started with two opened frames but fought back with five consecutive strikes thereafter to narrow the gap to just nine pins. The challenger was ahead by five pins after Chou had a split in the ninth frame. It all came down to the final frame to decide the match.

Chou kept her composure to double in the tenth and an eight pin count for 220. Thanchanok needed a double to take the crown but managed only eight pins and a spare to narrowly lost by five pins with 215.

Thanchanok had earlier eliminated two Macau nationals in the semi-finals, against second-seed Won Son Ian and third-seed, Veronica De Souza, 197-178-186 to advance to the title match against Chou. The Taiwanese spinner picked up MOP$40,000 (approx. US$5,000) as champion while the Thai settled for MOP$18,000.

Wong and De Souza took home MOP$10,000 and MOP$4,000 respectively as second and third runners-up. Chou also topped the Round 2 finals with 1729 to take top spot for the Stepladder finals. Wong finished second with 1699 followed by De Souza in third with 1662. Thanchanok made the cut in fourth with 1661.

Meanwhile in the Men's Open division, last year's first runner-up, Jang Tae Joon trashed team-mate, Kim Seong Tak, 244-199 in an all-Korean final match to emerge as champion. There was very little to separate the two title contenders up to the fifth frame.

But Jang rolled five consecutive strikes to open up a big gap. The top-seed went on to end the match with 244 to Kim's 199 for a well deserved victory.

Fourth-seed Kim had earlier dispatched second-seed Lee Tak Man of Macau and third-seed and team-mate, Jung Woo Hyun, 219-182-189 in the semi-finals to advance to the title match. Jang pocketed the top prize of MOP$70,000 (approx. US$9,000) as champion.

Kim settled for MOP$30,000 as first runner-up while Jung and Lee earned MOP$15,000 and MOP$6,000 as second and third runners-up. Jang topped the earlier Round 2 finals with 1800, 150 pins ahead of Lee in second with 1650. Jung and Kim made the cut for the Stepladder finals in third and fourth with 1604 and 1599 respectively.
