1st July, Kuching, Sarawak: Germany 1 won Group A with USA 1 in second and Finland 1 won Group B with Qatar 2 in second during the Matchplay rounds of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships to advance to the Boy's Doubles semi-finals.

The first German pair of Jaden Wolff and Phil Baumeiser started off poorly with a loss managing only 168. But the Germans did not give up hope as they fought back with a win in the second match. They drew the third match and then won all the remaining four matches to win the group with 16 points.

The first American pair of Dawson Peterson and Landin Jordan were impressive from the start winning the first four matches but fizzle off with two loss in their remaining matches for 15 points. They hung on to second spot as other teams failed to cash in.

Peru's Daiki Kanashiro and Adrian Tokashiki finished third in the group with four wins and a draw for 13 points. The fancied second American pair of Jacob Bocksite and Josh Hammons had a rough time winning only two matches to end up eighth in the group with 6 points.


Boy's Doubles semi-finalists, Germany 1, Finland 1, USA 1 and Qatar 2

In Group B, two Finish pairs were battling for the lead up until the sixth match with Finland 1 on 15 points and Finland 2 on 13. Had both won their final match, the two Finish pair would have occupied the top two spots. The first pair of Juho Vuoppoia and Roni Leskinen won their last match to take pole with 18 points.

The second Finish pair of Luukas Vaananen and Markus Lahti lost their final match to end up third with 13 points. Qatar 2's Talal Al Marri and Abdulrahman Al Doseri, who already had 15 points after the sixth match, failed to win their final match but survived to take up second.

The second Japanese pair of Atsuki Hashimoto and Takumi Miyamoto made a last bid to squeeze in the top 2 but ended up in fourth position with 12 points.

Germany 1 will face Qatar 2 in the first semi-finals match while Finland 1 will meet USA 1 in the other semi which is scheduled for Sunday, July 5. The winner will proceed to the Final on Monday, July 6. The losers will be awarded a bronze medal each.
