Australian faces Swede in Boy's Singles final

5th July, Kuching, Sarawak: Julian Dinham of Australia easily defeated Ben Pettit of New Zealand in the first semi-final match, 2-0 of the Boy's Singles of the 2026 IBF World Youth Bowling Championships while Emil Svensson of Sweden ousted Landin Jordan of USA, 2-0 to advance to the final.

Top-seed, Dinham easily took the first game, 221-197 in the best-of-3 first semi-final match against Pettit. The Aussie started the second game with a spare and then struck home all the way from the second frame to romp home a commanding win, 290-229 to earn his rightful spot in the final.

In the other semi, second-seed Emil Svensson won the first game, 235-207 to go one up. In the second game, the Swede showed a clean pair of heels to take another win for a 2-0 victory to set up a against the much fancied American, Jordan to set up a grand finale with Dinham in the final tomorrow.

Pettit and Jordan were awarded a bronze medal each as losers of the semi-finals while the finalists will contest for the gold.

Meanwhile, Gianna Brandolino of USA edged Lim Shi En of Singapore, 2-1 in the first semi-final match of the Girl's Singles to book her spot in the final. The American lost the first game, 201-246 to top-seed, Lim Shi En of Singapore.

But Brandolino bounced back in style taking the second game, 280-198. In the deciding third game, the Singaporean struggle big time and failed to get going as Brandolino cruised to a 225-163 win. In the other semi, Hazel Tan Wei Ning of Singapore won the first game, 228-192 against Katelyn Abigania for 1-0.

Again, Tan could not repeat the form she found earlier, going down 172-201 to the American. Abidania prevailed to win the third game, 224-190 setting up an all-American final with her team-mate, Brandolino tomorrow.

Singapore settled for two bronze medals after Lim and Tan crashed out leaving the Americans to battle for the gold and silver medals.
