Hong Kong youth, Singaporean leads qualifying

23rd June, Macau: 2026 Thailand Youth Open second runner-up, Lau Pak Man of Hong Kong and 2023 Malaysian Open first runner-up, Colleen Pee of Singapore led the Men's Open and Women's Open qualifying standings of the 2026 Macao China International Open Bowling Championships.

Lau became the first bowler to surpass the 1600-mark under the current scoring system with a 6-game aggregate of 1660 from two of his best 3-game qualifying series to lead the Men's Open standings. 2009 Macao China Open champion and two-time first runner-up, Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong, found some return in form to take up second with 1611.

His team-mate, Keith Mark took third spot with 1603. The top 3 highest qualifiers in the Overseas Pool will earn a bye and advance automatically to Round 2 finals. National squad member, Chan Tak Seng is the only seeded qualifier with a 6-game tally of 1544.

Defending champion, Lei Hok Hin topped the Local Pool with 1600 followed by 2019 Macao China Open first runner-up, Lee Tak Man with 1591 while Zoe Dias Ma occupied third spot with 1579. The top 3 highest qualifiers will earn a bye and advance automatically to Round 2 finals.

Joel Tan of Singapore headed the Mixed Pool with 1570 and the current cut in eighth position was Ryan Toh of Singapore with 1534. Missing the cut by just a six pins was Jomond Chia of Singapore with 1528.

Meanwhile, Singapore women dominated the Women's Overseas Pool as Colleen Pee topped the standings with 1519 followed by Arrianne Tay with 1479 and Ning Tay in third with 1476. Likewise, the top 3 highest qualifiers in the Overseas Pool will automatically advance to Round 2 finals.

So Cheng Lam is the sole National Seeded qualifier with 1358. 2026 Malaysian Open second runner-up, Veronica Dias De Souza led the Local Pool with 1445. Che Weng Si and Wong Son Ian finished second and third with 1415 and 1406 respectively.

Again the top 3 highest qualifiers of the Local Pool will automatically advance to Round 2 finals. Heading the Mixed Pool was Jo Yoon Seo of KNSU, Korea with 1313.

Men's Open Seeded qualifier, qualifiers positioned 4 to 8 in the Local Pool, qualifiers positioned 4 to 9 in Overseas Pool, qualifiers positioned 1 to 8 in the Mixed Pool along with the defending champion and top 3 qualifiers from Desperado squad making up a total of 24 will contest Round 1 finals on June 26.

Women's Open Seeded qualifier, qualifiers positioned 4 to 6 in the Local Pool, qualifiers positioned 4 to 7 in Overseas Pool, qualifiers positioned 1 to 9 in the Mixed Pool and the defending champion making up a total of 18 will contest Round 1 finals on June 26.

The top 12 Men with the highest pinfalls in the 8-game Round 1 finals and the top 9 Women with the highest pinfalls in the 8-game Round 1 finals will advance to Round 2 finals, joined by the seeded qualifiers for another 8 games. The top 6 men and top 6 women will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout finals.
